Nawaz orders PDMA to start relief work in Peshawar

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday took notice of downpour in and around Peshawar that killed as many as 16 people and injured dozens and has ordered the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to start relief efforts. According to media reports, torrential rain on Friday caused 16 deaths while 82 people got serious injuries besides severe damages to the property in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).  KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak is in the federal capital to attend and welcome the ‘Azadi March’ of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). According to PM’s media office, Nawaz has expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives caused in KP. He has issued directions to the KP government for the provision of all possible help and relief to the affectees. Taking serious notices over profound losses to the above one dozens lives and properties of residents of Peshawar, the premier ordered PDMA to immediately initiate relief services. The PM also announced Rs 0.3 million for each deceased and Rs 0.1 million for each injured person, besides offering any kind of assistance from the federal government to the provincial government in the relief activities.
