Gujranwala rally attack: Pomi Butt surrenders

GUJRANWALA: Pomi Butt, the key accused of pelting stones on the participants of ‘Azadi March’ in Gujranwala, surrendered before the police along with seven other activists of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Friday. Speaking to a private TV channel, he said that he was not hiding from the police and was sitting at home. “I was sitting in my office when stones were being pelted on the PTI convoy,” he claimed. He accused the PTI leaders of making provocative speeches that angered PML-N’s supporters. “I am being implicated falsely,” he said, adding that he had nothing to do with the clash. The accused Pomi, MPA Imran Butt’s brother, with seven other activists, visited the Sabzi Mandi Police Station and surrendered. The police have lodged a case of pelting stones at the PTI marchers against Pomi Butt and ten other PML-N workers. Pomi pleaded not guilty. Earlier today, clashes erupted in Gujranwala after shots were allegedly fired at the PTI Chief Imran Khan’s container. Imran remained safe, however, violence subsequently erupted in the city between the PTI and PML-N supporters, turning the area into a battlefield.
