Army launches military action in Waziristan

ISPR chief says armed forces to eliminate terrorists, their sanctuaries

RAWALPINDI – The Pakistan Army has launched comprehensive military action on the directive of the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif against foreign and local militants who are hiding in sanctuaries in North Waziristan tribal agency.

Inter-Services Public Relations Director General Asim Salim Bajwa said that these terrorists had waged a war against the state while using North Waziristan as a base. They (militants) had been disrupting normal life in all its dimensions, stunting economic growth and causing enormous loss of life and property, he said.

The armed action has been named as the Zarb-e-Azb. Bajwa said that these terrorists had also paralysed life within the tribal agency and had perpetually terrorised peace loving and patriotic local population. “Our valiant armed forces have been tasked to eliminate these terrorists regardless of hue and colour, along with their sanctuaries,” he said.

He said that these enemies of the state would be denied space anywhere across Pakistan with the support of the nation and in coordination with other state institutions. As always, armed forces will not hesitate in rendering any sacrifice for the motherland, he said.
