ISLAMABAD: A policeman was martyred and at least 16 other people were injured in two back to back blasts in Peshawar on Wednesday early morning. According to police, the blasts occurred in Mathra locality where two improvised explosive devices (IED) went off one after the other. A Private news channel reported the officials saying that the first explosion targeted a police van and injured two personnel. The second blast proved fatal and caused more injuries in the presence of policemen and media persons in the same area. Members of the bomb disposal squad and some media persons were also among the injured. They were rushed to Lady Reading Hospital. Security forces barricaded the area and began the search for militants who often target police and security forces in Peshawar.
