ISLAMABAD - Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid said on Friday that attacking processions and rallies of political opponents was not policy of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz-N.
Talking to news channels, the minister said that creating hurdles in the way of political rallies had never been the policy of the ruling party. “Those who had committed illegal act of attacking the rally of PTI would be severely punished,” he said.
“We should not jump to any conclusion as it is yet not clear who attacked the rally,” the minister said. He said that the government was making all-out efforts to ensure that no untoward incident happened in the march.
However, he said that the leadership of PTI and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) was warned about the dangers involved in the marches. “The opposition was told that militants could take advantage of the rallies as Zarb-e-Azb military operation was going on against them,” he said.
