LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday said that each penny of public money was being spent honestly only for the welfare of the masses. Talking to a delegation of office-bearers and workers of the PML-N, he said that billions of rupees of public money had been saved by holding successful negotiations with the lowest bidders for various projects. He said the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) government had served the people selflessly and was taking effective measures under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to cope with the challenges being faced by the country. Transparency, standard and speedy completion of development projects was the hallmark of PML-N government, he added. He said that the culture of merit, transparency and speedy completion of development projects had been promoted in the province. Foundation of Pakistan Kidney and Liver (PKL) Institute and Research Centre had been laid in Lahore and hundred percent free treatment would be provided to poor, destitute and deserving patients in this state of the art institute, he added. He said that the PKL Institute would be a masterpiece with regard to medical science, clinical research and provision of medical facilities and it would be up to the standard of the best institutes of its time in the world. The chief minister said that the project of PKL Institute would be for the whole country and patients of all regions would receive medical care at this centre as Pakistan comprised Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. He said the Punjab government had included people of all the provinces as well as Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan in all its programmes which had promoted national solidarity. Separately, Shahbaz Sharif expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives in a road accident near Attock and sympathised with the bereaved families. He directed the administration to provide best treatment facilities to the injured.
