KARACHI - The Sindh High Court will hear former president Pervez Musharraf's appeal to have his name removed from the exit control list (ECL) on immediate basis on Monday.
On Friday, Farogh Naseem, counsel for the former president, had filed an appeal seeking an amendment in the court verdict which suspended the order of removing Musharraf's name from the ECL for 15 days. The order allowed time for the government to file an appeal in the Supreme Court.
The appeal stated that Pervez Musharraf's mother was ill and he should be allowed to leave Pakistan immediately. The federal government has challenged the SHC decision in the Supreme Court.
In its appeal, the government maintained that Musharraf was the only accused in the treason case and there were other pending cases against him in courts, thus his name should not be removed from the exit control list.
