5.3 magnitude earthquake hits Pakistan

QUETTA: A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck southwestern Pakistan on Friday, but officials said there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties. The epicentre was in the city of Khuzdar, in Balochistan province, at a depth of 26 kilometres, meteorological official Zabih Ullah told AFP. The quake, which struck late morning, was also felt in surrounding towns and districts. The jolts were also recorded in Islamabad and adjoin areas, including Abbottabad and most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
