Govt actions not good for dialogue process: Ibrahim

Taliban negotiator points out lack of coordination with govt body

PESHAWAR – Jamaat-e-Islami leader and member of peace talk committee from Taliban side Prof Muhammad Ibrahim on Tuesday said that lack of coordination with the government committee is affecting ongoing dialogue process with the Tehreek-e-Taliban.


Talking to a private TV channel, the Taliban negotiator said that operation was underway in South Waziristan whereas curfew continued in different parts of North Waziristan. Due to these actions, local people in the areas were facing food shortage, he said.


He said such actions were not good omen for future of the dialogue process. He also said that the government committee has neither contacted Taliban committee nor responded to it. The peace talks had been going on since February but recently stalled again when Taliban called off a ceasefire.
