LONDON – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain telephoned former president Pervez Musharraf and Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) chief Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi, and stressed on unity of the nation for the eradication of terrorism from the country.
Talking to Pervez Musharraf by phone, the MQM leader also congratulated him over the judicial ruling that struck his name off exit control list. He also prayed for the early recovery of former president's mother. Musharraf thanked the MQM for their support.
In telephonic conversation with Allama Ashrafi, Altaf Hussain said millitants have initiated a war against Pakistan, adding intense assaults on sensitive installations like Karachi Airport, were worth pondering over. The MQM leader said the country is beset with terrorism.
Ashrafi said the entire country has turned into Waziristan; hence, the entire nation is required to stand united to rid Pakistan of this festering sore. The PUC chief said the adversaries of the MQM leveled all sorts of allegations including torture against Altaf Hussain; however, the workers proved all of them wrong by maintaining their calm over the arrest of their leader.
