SIALKOT: Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Mansoor Ahmad on Saturday said the government was making adequate efforts to overcome the energy crisis and many project had been initiated for this purpose. Talking to APP, he said that due to effective policies of the government, there was visible improvement in electricity supply as compare to the past, and hopefully the situation would further improve. He said that the mega project of Sialkot-Lahore Motorway would not only provide fast inter-city travelling facility but also minimise the distance between the two cities, besides bringing economic boom in the region. The SCCI president hoped that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would lay the foundation stone of the project early next week, which would reflect the government’s commitment to improve the means of communication across the country. Linking remote areas with developed areas would bring revolutionary changes in the lifestyle of the people and open up new vista of development and prosperity, besides generating employment opportunities, he added. The SCCI president said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would play an instrumental role in bringing revolutionary changes and economic stability and prosperity not only to Pakistan but also to the whole region, he said. He was of the view that Gwadar port would also play a dominating role in ensuring economic stability and overall development in the country as well as the region. Mansoor Ahmad urged the government to take steps for the revival of train service in this export-oriented city. Since long the railway authorities had suspended the train service on different routes over unknown reasons, as a result of which the transporters were fleecing the people, he said. He asked the prime minister to direct the railway authorities to revive the train service on different routes at early as possible.
