PPP backs Imran’s demands

LAHORE – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders have backed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s demand regarding reformation of the Election Commission.


Talking to journalists here, Senator Aitzaz Ahsan supported Imran Khan’s demand, saying that reconstitution of the Election Commission of Pakistan should take place. Sindh’s Information Minister Sharjeel Memon also stressed that biometric system and independent Election Commission should be introduced.


Earlier on Sunday, thousands of opposition supporters held a rally in Islamabad and protested against alleged rigging in last year s general election. It may be mentioned here that Pakistan Muslim League-N swept to power last year with 190 of the parliament’s 342 seats, while the PPP came second with 45 seats.
