TEHRAN – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif along with his high level delegation called on leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and discussed with him bilateral and regional issues.
During the meeting, Khamenei said that Takfiri groups pose a threat to all Muslims including Shias and Sunnis, the Press TV reported. “If Takfiri groups are not confronted, they will inflict more damage and blows on Muslim world,” he said.
He said that certain countries were making efforts to cause insecurity along Pak-Iran common border. “There are hands at work to create division between the two friendly and sincere people through different methods including causing insecurity along common border,” he said.
Khamenei said the great opportunity for the expansion of ties between the two countries should not be allowed to be missed. He said that the US seeks to foment division between Iran and Pakistan, saying there are also other governments which are active in this regard.
Prime Minister Nawaz expressed regret over the recent insecurity on the border areas, saying the government of Pakistan would spare no effort to counter elements behind such incidents and will welcome Iran’s measures over the issue, the channel reported.
Later, the prime minister visited the mausoleum of Hazrat Imam Raza, offered prayers (nawafil and dua). He also attended the ‘langar’ and ate food with general public at the mausoleum. On arrival in Mashad, the prime minister was received by Governor General of Khorasan Razavi province and other high officials at the airport.
