Benazir Bhutto assassination case: Court adjourns hearing till May 17

FIA prosecutor demands security after serious threats

RAWALPINDI – Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) has adjourned hearing of Benazir Bhutto assassination case without any proceedings due to lawyers strike and non appearance of FIA prosecutor.

Judge Ismail Parvez Joya took up the case for hearing on Monday. FIA prosecutor Chaudhry Azhar did not appear before the court due to security concerns. Azhar took the plea in the application filed by him that he was facing grave security threats; therefore he cannot appear unless security was provided to him.

The counsels of the accused also did not take part in the hearing process due to strike of the lawyers. The hearing of the case was adjourned till May 17.
