WASHINGTON - Welcoming the discussion held between Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his counterpart Narendra Modi the US has said that dialogue between two neighbours is a positive step and it is supportive of such efforts.
"We encourage dialogue between Pakistan and India. We feel that's a positive step. There have been some steps in recent weeks that we've been encourage by. We believe dialogue is an important step in the process between Indi and Pakistan," state department spokesperson Jen Psaki told reporters.
Psaki was replying to a question about the letter written by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi expressing desire to work in harmony for the resolution of disputes between the two countries.
On the Karachi airport attack, Psaki also said that the US has offered forensics and investigative assistance to the relevant Pakistani authorities investigating Monday's heinous crime. However she said Pakistan has not yet responded to that offer, but it remains on the table."
