Two FC men killed in Awaran blast

QUETTA: At least two personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC) were killed and five injured in a remote-controlled bomb blast in the insurgency stricken Awaran District of Balochistan, on Monday.
Talking to media, Frontier Crops (FC) spokesperson Khan Wasey said that the bomb hit an FC convoy that was moving from Awaran to Mashky. As a result, two security personnel were killed and five others sustained injuries. “The IED was planted by the roadside and detonated remotely,” FC spokesman said, and added that two troops of the FC lost their lives, while five others sustained injuries. He said one vehicle of the security forces was destroyed. “A large number of security forces rushed to the spot shortly after the incident and cordoned off the area. The deceased and injured were taken to the FC Hospital in Awaran,” he added. The deceased FC personnel were identified as Jan Mohammad and Sepoy Saleem Kakar. No group had claimed responsibility for the attack till the filing of this report. Awaran is among the areas worst hit by militancy and where last year a massive earthquake flattened 95 percent of the structures.
