ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday dismissed plea seeking disqualification of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Member National Assembly (MNA) Rafique Jamali. A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali comprising of Justice Sheikh Azmat Saaed and Justice Qazi Faez Isa heard the plea filed by Abdul Kareem Jatoi against election tribunal decision. During the course of proceedings, Waseem Sajjad representing Rafique Jamali and Advocate Khawaja Naveed counsel for Abdul Kareem Jatoi appeared before the bench. The bench dismissed petition after hearing arguments of both the parties. Rafique Jamali had won election from NA-232 Dadu on PPP ticket. His opponent candidate Abdul Kareem Jatoi challenged Rafique Jamali’s success before the election tribunal that dismissed Jatoi’s plea. Abdul Kareem Jatoi filed petition in the apex court against election tribunal decision. The same bench also heard a case seeking disqualification of former chief minister Sindh Liaquat Jatoi but adjourned it for an indefinite period over the adjournment motion filed by opponent candidate.
