Terror bid foiled, three bombs defused in Peshawar

PESHAWAR – The bomb disposal squad on Wednesday foiled a terror bid by defusing three bombs placed in a house in Faqeer Kalay area of Peshawar.

According to police, motorbike riding gunmen opened fire at patrolling Officer Khalid on Tuesday night, in which he was injured. In retaliatory fire the officer injured an attacker. Police found identity card of a man Ilyas from the place of the incident during investigation and conducted raid at the address at Faqeer Kalay area along Panjgai road.

Police found large quantity of explosives, a homemade bomb device, two grenades, four receivers and other equipment used in bomb making. The bomb disposal squad defused the bombs. According to police accused Ilyas has been wanted in targeted killings and other crimes. He has been a member of Tehreek e Taliban, police sources added.

Police said that his accomplices however managed to escape from their hideout before arrival of the search team.
