LAHORE – Former test cricketer and coach Intikhab Alam has donated 1.4 million rupees for internally displaced persons (IDPs) of the North Waziristan.
During a visit to army relief camp in Nishtar Park Sports Complex, Alam presented a cheque of 1.4 million rupees for victims from the tribal areas. On this occasion, the former cricketer said that people from all walks of life should come up to help the displaced families.
Camp’s incharge Brigadier Mazhar Kiani thanked Alam while urging other cricketers to come forward to help their country men in this hour of need. On the other hand, the Punjab government with the cooperation of the Pakistan Cricket Board has announced to organise four fund-raising matches for the displaced families.
First match of the series will be played on July 19 in Rawalpindi, the second one will be held in Multan on July 21. Third match is scheduled to be played on July 24 in Faisalabad and the fourth and final match which will be among Pakistan’s national cricket team and A team will be played on July 26 in Lahore.
