ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan has said that rigging is the biggest threat to democracy.
Talking to journalists outside the Supreme Court here on Thursday, the PTI chief said people would lose confidence in democracy if their elected representatives were defeated through rigging. He said it was said that democracy would be derailed due to protest but the actual danger for democracy was rigging.
“We hope we will get justice from Supreme Court,” he said. “Our four applications are pending before Supreme Court,” he said, adding the situation was such that one of the candidates spent five million rupees and 0.7 million rupees for acquiring justice.
Imran said his party knocked every door to seek justice in a year, but to no avail. “Hence we decided to take to streets,” he added. The PTI chairman reiterated that the government would be responsible if it attempted to stop the peaceful protest demonstration on May 11 in Islamabad.
