Will play a positive role to defuse political tension: JI

ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Thursday said that it will play a positive role to defuse the current political crisis in the country. Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, JI General Secretary Liaquat Baloch that his party believes that all issues of national interest should be resolved through negotiation. At this point he said, “The country cannot afford politics of agitation at this juncture. The ongoing political tension has portrayed a negative image of the country on international as well as on a regional level,” he said. Baloch asked PML-N government to accept double demands of PTI. The JI secretary general announced that his party will observe a “Palestine Day” to express solidarity with Gaza on August 17. He maintained that a rally on August 10 is planned from Faizabad to Blue Area in Islamabad to condemn the Israeli genocide of Palestinians. The rally is named “Labaik Qibla Awal Rally” and would be led by the party’s chief Sirajul Haq. “I assure that more than hundreds of women and children will participate in the rally,” he said. Similarly, a protest rally will be carried out in the port city of Karachi. The JI leader added that over 2,200 innocent civilians have lost lives in Israeli aerial and ground offensive over Gaza while more than 10,000 people were injured.
