ISLAMABAD – Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday granted Pervez Musharraf an exemption of one day from appearance in judges' detention case.
Former president Pervez Musharraf's spokesman Rashid Qureshi told the court that he would come to Islamabad soon. ATC Judge Ateequr Rehman was hearing the judges' detention case. Despite the court orders Musharraf did not appear in the court during Friday's hearing.
Musharraf's counsel Safdar Javed Malik presented his new medical certificate in the court. He submitted a petition in the court and sought his exemption from court appearance for one day. The prosecutor, Amir Nadeem Tabish argued against Musharraf's exemption.
Objecting to the medical certificate presented by Musharraf's lawyer, the prosecutor said that Musharraf is deliberately not appearing before the court. "What type of illness does Musharraf have that does not go away," he questioned? Rashid Qureshi informed the court that he had a word with Musharraf and he would be coming to Islamabad soon.
The court granted Musharraf an exemption from appearance for hearing. The court was adjourned till August 19.
