Hearing against ex-COAS resumes

ISLAMABAD: The special court trying former military dictator General (r) Pervez Musharraf resumed the high treason trial case as Pakistan Television staffers played the original emergency speech recording in the courtroom. Both English and Urdu versions of the speech were presented.
The three-member special court headed by Justice Faisal Arab heard the Article-VI case against former military ruler and during hearing the chief prosecutor Akram Sheikh pleaded the court that the defence counsel’s allegations of record manipulation were baseless. Akram Sheikh also requested the court to dismiss the defence plea in this regard.
He informed the special court that the inquiry against former president was conducted at Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Headquarter and also rejected the allegations of record tempering levelled by the defence team of the Pervez Musharraf.
During the last hearing of the case, defence lawyer Barrister Faroogh Nasim had pleaded before the court that the FIA may manipulate the documents and requested it to take the record into its custody to avoid possibility of tampering.
