Public processions can’t affect govt: minister

Senator Rashid calls probing into election result a judicial matter

LAHORE – Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervez Rashid has said that politics of storming is not a service to democracy and such politics is tantamount to undermining democracy.

In his exclusive talks with a private TV channel, he said that investigating into the result of four constituencies is a judicial matter and not political. Why the electoral results of 2113 are not suiting to those who had accepted rigging-ridden referendum and elections in the past, he said.

The federal minister said that Imran Khan was ruling in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province due to the elections which he was dubbing as rigging. He went on to say that public meetings and processions cannot affect the government. “What is working behind the fever of rigging is best known to Imran Khan,” he added.

Any interference by the state machinery in the polls was next to impossible, the minister said, adding that Imran Khan should focus on improving the performance of his government in the Pakhtunkhwa province rather than indulging in criticism.
