‘Abducted lawmaker shifted to tribal areas’

LAHORE – Punjab Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah has disclosed that abducted provincial lawmaker Rana Jameel has been shifted to tribal areas.

Speaking to a private TV channel on Saturday, the minister said that Rana Jameel was not being kept in Punjab. “Any little-known small militant group has abducted Rana Jameel,” he said.

The law minister said that kidnappers did not know that Rana Jameel was a member of the Punjab Assembly. He said that Jameel's family got a call from kidnappers, who were speaking Urdu and Pashtu.

It may be recalled here that Ali Haider Gilani, son of former prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani and Shahbaz Taseer, son of the late Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer, are already in captivity in the restive tribal region.
