ISLAMABAD: Justice Nasirul Mulk took oath as the 22nd Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) on Sunday during a dignified ceremony held at the Presidency.
President Mamnoon Hussain administered the oath to newly appointed CJP Justice Nasirul Mulk. Justice Nasirul Mulk being the senior judge of the apex court took oath as CJP after the retirement of his predecessor Justice Tassudaq Hussaian Jillani attaining the superannuation age of 65 years. Justice Nasirul Mulk will serve as the CJP till August 16, 2015 and after his retirement Justice Jawad S Khawaj being the senior judge of the top court would take the slot in August 2015.
The oath ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff, and chiefs of the armed services besides several government officials, dignitaries, senior lawyers and the top court judges including Islamabad High Court, Federal Shariat Court and Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench were present on the occasion.
