LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that Imran Khan's demand for the prime minister's resignation had exposed the ulterior motives of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).
Talking to journalists, Shahbaz Sharif said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) believed in democracy and anyone could protest within democratic limits. However, he added, the government knew how to handle those threatening to derail the political system and disturb law and order.
The chief minister said the demand for the resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was unconstitutional and undemocratic.
He said that PTI chief Imran Khan was depriving the people of their basic rights by threatening to overthrow a democratically elected government." Nawaz Sharif is a symbol of democracy in Pakistan."
