QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch inaugurated the monsoon tree plantation campaign 2014 by planting a pine tree at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Tuesday. Forest and Wildlife Secretary Khudae Rahim Hajbani and Principal Secretary Muhammad Naseem Lehri were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Balochistan CM said that the main purpose of tree plantation campaign was to create awareness among people about the environmental and economic benefits of trees. “The tree plantation plays an important role for eliminating environmental pollution, therefore, people should plant maximum number of trees during the campaign,” he added. He said that the trees not only enhance natural beauty of cities but also provide a clean environment to the people. Baloch said that we could generate additional energy resources by planting trees.
“Trees are ornaments of the earth therefore all people specially the youth and students must play an active role in planting trees and participating in the tree plantation campaign,” he asked.
He directed the concerned authorities to complete the tree plantation campaign at its stipulated period besides taking steps for their protection. Forest and Wildlife Secretary Khudae Rahim Hajbani said that 0.7 million plants would be planted during the campaign in the provincial capital Quetta and other parts of the province. He said that the people through media would be appealed to take part in protection of plants after plantation.
