22 killed in Chakwal truck plunge


CHAKWAL: At least 22 people, including three children and seven women, were killed and over 40 others were injured when a mini-truck plunged into a ravine near Modern Morr in Kalar Kahar area of Chakwal District on Saturday. According to reports, the incident took place because of overloading and break failure on a slippery road amid heavy rain. Kallar Kahar Station House Officer Zulifqar said that mini-truck was carrying about 50 people from Buchal Kalan to Martin Kalan. Most of the passengers were from Sargodha District. The injured were shifted to hospitals in Chakwal and Rawalpindi. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and other political leaders have expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives. The chief minister has directed the officials concerned to provide best treatment facilities to the injured.
