Speaker accepts resignation of Javed Hashmi

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) President Javed Hashmi’s resignation has been accepted by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Thursday. Javed Hashmi had announced during his speech on September 2 that he wanted to resign from his seat in National Assembly. He had won the election from NA-149, Multan, during the general elections of 2013 on a PTI ticket. Hashmi had developed some differences with party Chairman Imran Khan on the issue of the ongoing sit-ins in Islamabad. On August 29, Hashmi held a press conference in Multan and accused Imran of holding the long march on the directions of certain quarters in the establishment. Responding to the allegation, Imran Khan announced from his container the very same evening that he had parted ways with Javed Hashmi forever. Two days later, on September 1, Hashmi held yet another press conference in Islamabad and said that Imran Khan was working on an “agenda”.
