QUETTA: Unidentified terrorists on Thursday shot dead a Balochistan National Party (BNP) leader in Panjgur District.
Police said Eid Muhammad shopped at a market and was on his way home when the assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on him near Pak Quran Chowk, an intersection in Sarawan area of Panjgur. He received multiple bullets on upper torso and had breathed his last instantly.
The attackers managed to flee from the scene. “It was a targeted attack,” said a cop at Panjgur police station.
It was the second attempt on his life in Panjgur, he said, adding that his shop was attacked in Ramadan.
BNP Information Secretary Agha Hasan said that more than 40 leaders and activists of BNP have been killed across Balochistan in the last few years.
“The government has not thoroughly investigated any killing,” Hasan said, adding that the party would continue to raise the issues of Balochistan despite the targeted killings of party leaders.
