ISLAMABAD – The protest and sit-ins of PIA employees could not impact on the determination of the federal government to privatise Pakistan International Airline (PIA), Private TV channel reported. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a key meeting at the Prime Minister’s House today. A strategy has been hashed out to spare the air travelers any trouble caused by the ongoing disturbance. The prime minister’s close aides and the ministers were also in the meeting. According to the report – in the meeting – they decided the principle to stay clear of the ongoing protests and sit-ins. The report further said that the participants of the meeting opposed the proposal to establish a new aviation company on government level. However, they agreed to allow new private airlines to open their operations in Pakistan. According to sources, it was decided in the meeting that the decision to turn PIA into a company will stay.
