LAHORE: Lawyers and security personnel deployed on the Lahore High Court premises on Monday foiled the suicide attempt by a sacked process server of Gujrwanala.
Imran Hashmi was removed from the civil courts establishment sometimes ago and was upset because of unemployment.
Imran had doused himself with kerosene oil and was about to set himself alight when lawyers and security personnel caught hold of him.Imran alleged that authorities concerned had removed him on charges of taking bribe of Rs100 only. He said that all appeals against his removal from service were dismissed and no one provided justice to him.
He said that he was the sole breadwinner for his family and had three kids while unemployment had put his family to starvation. Now, he said, he had the only option to end his life.
Officials of the Lahore High Court Bar Association assured Imran that they would support him. Later, they submitted an application to Chief Justice Khwaja Imtiaz Ahmad with a request to provide justice to Imran. Later, the police took Hashmi in custody and removed him from the LHC premises.
