ISLAMABAD – Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Thursday said that visit of Chinese president to Pakistan was in the national interest which the government had always prioritized.
Talking to a private TV channel, the minister said that the cancellation of the visit was still not confirmed, however, the government had made every possible effort to make the visit feasible. He said that China wanted long term partnership with Pakistan.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Tariq Fatemi also met with chinese ambassador on Wednesday night in this regard. He said that the chief minister had good reputation in China.
Saad said that not only the civil government but all security institutions had given them clearance but they would finalize their visit after the clearance by their own high level security team, who was in Pakistan from the last few days.
To a question, he said that the nation would decide about the responsible, if the visit was canceled. The minister said that Pakistan was facing different problems including displaced families issue and flood warning issued from India.
