QUETTA: As many as four security personnel and two others sustained burns when an 18 meter diameter gas pipeline was blown up in Naseerabad area of Balochistan, resulting in suspension of gas supply to the various parts of the province, including the provincial capital.
The condition of four injured was stated to be critical who were shifted to the Larkana Hospital in Sindh. According to the police, unknown men had planted explosive material beneath the 18 meter diameter gas pipeline that comes from Shikarpur to Quetta. The explosion resulted into a massive fire that also injured four personnel of Levis on the duty and 2 civilians. The injured Levis Personnel were identified as Bashir Ahmed, Constable Munir Ahmed, Samod Ahmed Khosa and Muhammad Jan Khosa. While two other civilians were identified as Muhammad Bachal and Innayatullah Jamali who were watchmen.
The explosion resulted in suspension of gas supply to Quetta and other parts of the province aimed a chilling cold weather. Police and bomb disposal squad reached to the site of the incident soon after the explosion. BDS said that around 10 kg explosive material was used in the blast. In yet another incident, Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) defused as many as 4 KG explosive material in a residential area, in Naseerabad. According to the Police, unknown men had planted explosive material in the proximity of the residence of a person identified as Muhammad Yousaf Syal. The people of the vicinity spotted in explosive material and called Police. Police rushed to the site along with BDS team and with the timely operation of the BDS, it succeeded in defusing the explosive material.
