ISLAMABAD: Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, of the Supreme Court (SC), on Thursday took oath as acting-chief election commissioner (CEC) after appointment of Justice Nasirul Mulk as chief justice of Pakistan (CJP).
Outgoing CJP Tassaduq Hussain Jillani administered the oath to Justice Jamali. Justice Mulk resigned on Wednesday as acting-CEC after his appointment as CJP with effect from July 6. Justice Jillani retires tomorrow (Saturday).
The CEC’s office fell vacant after Justice (r) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim resigned last year.
