ISLAMABAD: The Defence Ministry has notified the deputation appointment of a three-star general in Sindh’s premier paramilitary force following the completion of the official tenure of his predecessor.
Corresponding to this development, Major General Bilal Akbar, the newly designated Sindh Rangers Director General, is to take charge from Monday onwards in the ongoing week, it has been learnt.
Last month, the General Headquarters (GHQ) had decided to call back Sindh Rangers DG Major General Rizwan Akhtar upon the completion of his official term, and nominated Major General Bilal Akbar for the slot. Major General Bilal Akbar was the GOC 11th Infantry Division, Lahore.
Following approval of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan’s endorsement, Akbar has been confirmed for the Sindh’s top paramilitary slot, the Defence Ministry sources shared with Daily Times.
