ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Member Ashraf Gujjar has sent a request to the Ministry of Interior Affairs for placing the names of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri in the Exit Control List (ECL).
The PTI chairman and the PAT chief were leading protests against the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad. A private TV channel quoting sources reported that the PEMRA member in his plea to the Ministry of Interior Affairs had sought the names of Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri in the ECL saying both of them had been booked in scores of cases of terrorism and lawlessness.
He wrote that the names of the two leaders should be kept in the ECL till both of them were cleared from the cases. The Ministry of Interior Affairs has summoned a meeting to consider the request, sources said.
