Nawaz, Zardari discuss political deadlock

Rehman briefs ex-president about his meeting with Imran, Qadri

ISLAMABAD – Former president Asif Ali Zardari arrived here in the federal capital on Wednesday from Karachi and contacted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif through telephone to find out ways and means to bring an end to the prevailing political deadlock.

According to sources, the former president has further intensified his efforts to safeguard the democracy, since political standoff continued to persist despite all out efforts of the political parties. It is presumed that the former president would have given Nawaz Sharif some useful inputs to get out of the impasse.

Senator Rehman Malik also briefed the former president who is also co-chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party about the outcome of his meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahrul Qadri.
