KARACHI: Senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders Mustafa Kamal and Anees Qaimkhani have arrived in Karachi on Thursday after staying out from political arena for several years. According to private TV channel, the two MQM leaders have announced to jointly address an ‘important’ press conference today at 4pm in Karachi. The report says that they have formally invited journalists but no detail is available about subject of their news conference. In August 2013, Kamal quietly left Pakistan, moving first to Tanzania and then settling in Dubai, informing party leaders through emails that he had left because of his wives’ illness and personal problems. Qaimkhani – a senior member of MQM’s Rabita Committee – had also left the country a couple of years back to stay away from politics. Qaimkhani also followed Kamal’s footsteps to Dubai. According to news reports, he left the party and the country after MQM chief Altaf Hussain criticised and rebuked him over Kamal’s departure.
