ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the arrest of London-based Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Hussain is of an extremely sensitive nature.
The prime minister was informed about the arrest of the MQM chief during a session of the PML-N parliamentary party. Nawaz said that the government would take all legal angles into account. He said that the Parliament be taken into confidence over the matter.
On Friday, British High Commissioner Philip Barton called on Interior Affairs Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali and informed him that the Scotland Yard had reached its legal and logical conclusions which could lead to possible arrest of Altaf Hussain in money laundering case, according to sources.
The government was asked to take precautionary security measures in Karachi in the wake of the high-profile arrest, the sources said.
