QUETTA: Lawyers boycotted courts across Balochistan on Monday against the target killing of Balochistan Union of Journalists (BUJ) General Secretary Irshad Mastoi and two other media workers.
The Balochistan Bar Association (BBA) had given the protest call in this regard. The lawyers did not appear in the courts. BBA President Bilal Kasi and others said in their statements that targeting the journalists was an extremely regrettable phenomenon and was an attempt to silence the people’s voice.
They said that the entire province, including Quetta, was in the grip of lawlessness. They said that nobody was secure in Balochistan, be it lawyers, journalists or government employees.
They urged the government to ensure the protection of the journalists. They expressed their resolve that the legal fraternity would not sit idle against injustices in Balochistan.
