KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party Patron-in-Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has paid rich tribute to former Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer on his birthday.
Bilawal stated that Taseer would have become a voice against inhumane incidents in our society, and cited the recent of killing of a pregnant woman, Farzana, who was stoned to death in court premises in Lahore. Bilawal Bhutto said, “If Shaheed Salmaan Taseer had been alive, he would have continued his struggle in giving voice to the poor and downtrodden masses of society.”
In a press statement issued on Sunday, the young PPP leader said that people like Salmaan Taseer are the real heroes of the Pakistani nation who laid down there lives for the protection of weak segments of society and did not care about the threats to their life. “We are proud that Shaheed Salmaan Taseer and other brave leaders like him were the part of Pakistan People’s Party, and its leaders and workers who cared little for their lives but gave sense of security to the toiling and innocent people of the country,” he added.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said Pakistan and its people are indebted to its heroes like Salmaan Taseer and they will never forget the sacrifices of the PPP leaders and workers to make Pakistani society an egalitarian one where the elements who want to impose their nefarious agenda on gun-point have no room. The PPP patron-in-chief said that Shaheed Salmaan Taseer had always been the voice of the poor and downtrodden and his legacy shall live on.
