‘Terrorist attack possible in Punjab’

Security agencies believe terrorists may attack public places in reaction to Zarb-e-Azb military operation

LAHORE – The Ministry of Interior Affairs on Wednesday issued warnings to the Punjab government of possible terrorist attacks during the holy month of Ramazan, according to a private TV channel.

The channel reported that the government issued the warning following reports of law enforcement agencies that terrorists might attack public places in reaction to military's Zarb-e-Azb operation in North Waziristan.

Following the ministry's warning, the Punjab government has decided to beef up security at railway stations, airports, major grid stations and public place during the Ramazan.

Earlier this month, Pakistan Army troops including contingents of the Quick Reaction Force and the Rapid Action Force were deployed in different districts of the province.
