ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said the decision to launch operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan Agency had been taken after extensive discussions, and “all foreign fighters and local terrorists will be wiped out without exception and no sanctuary will be spared by the Pakistan armed forces”.
He shared these views during a meeting with air chief Tahir Rafique Butt who called on him and briefed him on professional matters. The prime minister commended the role played by the Pakistan Air Force in defending the frontiers of the country. They exchanged views on matters relating to national security and overall law and order situation in the country.
The prime minister said the armed forces will totally destroy the sanctuaries of terrorists. Nawaz Sharif said writ of the state will be established in the tribal areas and the government will start a new era of development in the area after the successful completion of Zarb-e-Azb operation. He said that the government had decided to launch the operation after deep and long thoughts taking into consideration all its implication. He said, “We will not allow our soil to be used for terrorism purposes.”
