Zardari urges govt to allow food for protesters

ISLAMABAD: Former president Asif Zardari on Sunday asked the government to allow water and food for the protesters. In a twitter message through the PPP media cell, the former president condemned the shelling of tear-gas shells as well as torture of journalists. Zardari again emphasised the need for dialogue to resolve political issues. He also asked the party workers to reach hospitals and donate blood for the injured. Earlier, Zardari telephoned PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and inquired about the health of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. He condemned the firing of tear gas shell at the PML-Q president. Former interior minister Rehman Malik in a statement asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to try to break the deadlock by demonstrating political farsightedness. He stressed the need for finding a middle way to get out of the situation. He said clashes between police and demonstrators are not in the interest of the country.
