QUETTA: Three personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC) were killed and four others sustained injuries in a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in the proximity of the volatile Awaran District of Balochistan, on Friday.
Frontier Corps spokesperson Mohammed Wasay confirmed the death toll and said two of the injured are in critical condition. “The FC vehicle was on a routine patrol from Awaran to Lesbela on the national highway when it was hit by an IED planted by miscreants,” Wasay said. The Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) claimed responsibility for the attack. More troops rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area after the explosion. The dead and injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.
According to the hospital sources two of the injured are in critical condition. Balochistan Assembly Deputy Speaker and MPA from Awaran, Abdul Qadus Biznjo condemned the attack on security forces. Speaking in the Balochistan Assembly he said the security forces were busy in relief work in Awaran when they were attacked by the militants. The members of the Balochistan Assembly offered Fateha for the security forces on the request of Abdul Qadus Bizenjo. Awaran is among areas worst hit by militancy.
