Sir: It has become a routine for the PML-N, PPP, MQM and JUI-F leaders to bash Imran Khan and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) all the time. I can understand the PML-N’s venom and hatred against him but these attacks are useless. On the one hand they admit that Imran Khan has promoted awareness and correctly raised the issue of rigging. They all have alleged massive rigging in last year’s general elections but are still supporting the PML-N government on the flimsy grounds of saving democracy. Does it not smack of compromise and being pro status quo because in this manner they get to save face? I think they are all afraid of Imran khan’s growing popularity and stature. I think the main reason all of these parties have lost their popularity and vote bank is because their ideology and philosophy is no more relevant to the masses anymore. They are not doing any service to the nation’s cause and democracy. It seems they have united to save themselves from accountability. Bashing Imran Khan has become a popular sport. My point is that even when they bash Imran Khan, they should not let the cause go for which he is fighting, i.e. election reforms and transparency. They are trying to kill the message along with the messenger. JAVAID BASHIR Via Email
