Sir: The Pakistan Muslim Nawaz (PML-N) has not learnt the lesson on the drawbacks of keeping secrecy around issues that are of national importance. The parties in parliament have been agitating for a year now over the consistent absence of the prime minister from the Assembly. They had been demanding debate on critical issues so that they knew the direction the government takes to handle them. Running the government through cabinet will only draw a wedge between the government and the opposition parties. The differences have begun to appear. Lest the atmosphere become more toxic, the government should change tack and start behaving like a democratic party.
