Sir: The FIR for the murder of 14 Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s activists killed in Lahore must be registered against the Punjab home minister. The fact that the Punjab chief minister holds this portfolio and has condemned this incident, denying any involvement, does not absolve him. While we are on the point where the media, civil society, opposition political parties, religious parties and everyone else emphasises establishing the writ of the law, it is time the FIR for the murder of more than 50 innocent people in Karachi on May 12, 2007 is also registered against the then home minister of Sindh and all others involved in this brutality. If memory serves me right, that very evening the then Sindh home minister proudly proclaimed this as a legitimate reaction while addressing reporters, which was televised nationwide. Have the people forgotten that the then President and in uniform too, proclaimed this as his show of force while addressing a public meeting in Islamabad the same evening, implicating himself in this massacre. An FIR must also be lodged against all those responsible for the burning alive of seven lawyers in Karachi and the massacre of another 180 citizens in Karachi who were massacred when Benazir Bhutto arrived in Pakistan. Let us also not forget to give justice to the more than 200 policemen killed in target killings if we intend to restore the writ of law in Pakistan. Aneela Chandio Sukkur
